The mission of the Dundas 55+ Group is to encourage adults in the Dundas community who are over 55 to participate in programs that will promote and enrich healthy active lifestyles.
The Dundas 55+ Group is volunteer driven. The Group, supported by the City of Hamilton Recreation Division (Senior Services) and the Hamilton Council on Aging, plans 55+ programs at the Dundas Community Centre. The first three programs were offered in the fall of 2016. About 76 participants enjoyed them. Since then, the Group has run classes three seasons a year except for times when the Dundas Community Centre was closed because of pandemic restrictions. In the fall of 2022, the Dundas 55+ Group organized nine classes at the Dundas Community Centre. One hundred and sixty-one participants signed up.
The Dundas 55+ Group looks ahead to offering as many programs as possible, to finding ways to support additional programs for older adults in Dundas, and to working collaboratively with similar local organizations.
This ambitious vision will continue to be accomplished by volunteers who want to see an age-friendly Dundas thrive.
